About us

Over two decades, the husband-and-wife duo Claudia and Bish Ashleigh and their expert team have become renowned for offering one of the most innovative and bespoke opticians services across Hampshire. Tamlyn Taylor, a clinical optometrist who joined them in 2018, has recently become accredited in the discovery and identifying the early stages of the glaucomas.

Ashleigh Sight Care has served the local Hampshire community since 1999, when Claudia opened the doors of our first practice in Southampton. As a pioneering optometrist, she had grown frustrated with the substandard services she observed in High Street chain opticians and, instead, set out to offer exceptional eye care by investing in the very best optical talent and technology.

Claudia soon expanded the business to include a practice in Romsey and in 2009 she partnered up with her optometrist husband Bish, who brought two practices at Fair Oak and Portsmouth into the Ashleigh Sight Care fold. A fifth practice at Bishops Waltham joined the others in 2010 to complete the current group.

Founded on a core ethos of clinical excellence and not rushing patients, Ashleigh Sight Care has the accolade of being the first UK opticians practice to invest in the revolutionary Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner in 2002. This dedication has continued to offer the latest optical services and the company is constantly on the look out for ways to innovate with pioneering technology.

The teams also pride themselves on their expertise – and all the optometrists and dispensing opticians are registered with the General Optical Council and bound by The Opticians Act to keep their registration in date with constant education and training. Claudia and Bish are also passionate about developing their academic prowess in the optometry field. Whilst studying at City University in London, Claudia developed a particular interest in contact lenses, and is now one of the few optometrists in the area to specialise in fitting multifocal contact lenses, including gas permeable lenses. Her work with multi-focal contact lenses was recognised by being awarded a Doctorate from London South Bank University in 2017 and is now considered to be an expert in this field. Bish completed his Masters degree in Clinical Ophthalmology, studying at the University of Manchester and researching Glaucoma at the City University, London in 2008. All the optometrists at the practices are experts and specialists in identifying the first symptoms of the glaucomas and macular degeneration.

At Ashleigh Sight Care your vision is in good hands.
